I really wish this was some sort of joke.
A Norwegian professor suggested that men and women who are brain dead should be used as surrogates for prospective parents who cannot or prefer not to conceive children by regular means, Fox News reported.
The report titled “Whole Body Gestational Donation,” was written by a Anna Smajdor, Professor of Practical Philosophy at the University of Oslo. She explained that her suggestion was an attempt to protect women from the “risks of gestation” and transfer those risks to people who “are no longer able to be harmed by them.”
Here’s what the report indicated.
Whole body gestational donation offers an alternative means of gestation for prospective parents who wish to have children but cannot, or prefer not to, gestate. It seems plausible that some people would be prepared to consider donating their whole bodies for gestational purposes just as some people donate parts of their bodies for organ donation.
Imagine your wife getting in a car accident that left her brain dead and then birthing another couple’s child (while in a vegetative state).
While Smajdor seems optimistic about her idea, she admitted that it’s “undoubtedly a disturbing project.” She also suggested that to help combat critics who may say that this is what feminists have fought against for years, men would also be used.
“The prospect of the male gestator could thus appease some feminists who might otherwise feel that brain-dead gestation is a step too far in the objectification of women’s reproductive functions,” the report said.
Yeah, she's worried what the feminists would think. Who wants a dead man to carry their baby for nine-months?! Not me!
Supposedly this would be a resource for couples and individuals that can’t get pregnant or don’t want to endure the risks of pregnancy, like infertile and gay couples.
This gives the word outrageous a whole new meaning.

Smajdor explained that there is a “moral squeamishness” when it comes to researching and conducting studies about this possibility … hmm I wonder why.
Naturally, the idea received ample backlash on social media.
Reduxx wrote up a report on the situation and pointed out some replies. One woman called it “HORRIFYING,” another said “I can imagine few more horrifying, dystopian, and signifying of total societal moral collapse than harvesting the bodies of dead women and keeping them functionally ‘alive’ as surrogates.”
I agree completely. This idea is nuts.
