MRCTV spoke with Heritage Foundation senior research fellow Jay Greene, author of the report, "Diversity University: DEI Bloat in the Academy," which dissects popular universities from Power Five athletic conferences and how much of their budgets go towards paid positions that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

"We were motivated to do it because I think everyone has a sense that universities are devoting a lot of staff and resources to diversity goals, but it's really nice to quantify exactly how big that is so that we can talk about it more productively," Greene said, after being asked what sparked the investigation into these schools.

Some schools even had more DEI [Diversity, Equity & Inclusion] positions on staff than history professors. Greene calls DEI programs "bureaucratic bloat."

But do these positions even help students feel more accepted on campus? When Greene looked at student surveys, he found there was no direct correlation between universities that have larger dedicated DEI staff and minority students feeling more welcomed on campus.
