During a Wednesday interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Nancy Pelosi attempted to refute conservatives’ criticisms regarding President Biden’s age.

Of course, if Biden were mentally fit, she wouldn’t need to dodge the question. She could have proven how his speeches rival those of Ronald Reagan. She could have discussed specifically how Biden’s age has only helped him become one of our wisest modern presidents.

But Pelosi knows that no one would believe those things – so instead, she called him “a kid.”  And I have a hard time understanding how this could possibly count as a “defense.”

“I was in L.A. for some Democratic stuff recently, and I met with Norman Lear, who’s 100, going on 101,” Pelosi said. “He was telling me some new shows he was involved in. I had a meeting with Frank Gehry, a 90-something architect, showing me new buildings he’s building throughout the world, and they were like, ‘80, he’s a kid.’ I was like, yeah. It is relative. He’s younger than I am, so he’s a kid to me as well. The president is.”

Sure, Biden is not the oldest person alive. That doesn’t mean he is immune to the dementia he appears to have experienced on live television far too many times. Those concerned with Biden’s age simply want a president who’s able to do the job right and truly listen to the American people.

According to Pelosi, though, legitimate complaints about the president's age are a mere “excuse" to not like or support him.

“It’s not a reason,” she declared. “It’s an excuse, and I think that we just have to get on with this election for the children, for the people.”

Clearly our former speaker fails to see how conservatives are the true protectors of our nation’s children. As long as our president is younger than a historical building, that's good enough for her.
