Nadler Called Out By White House Counsel For 'Cover-Up' Accusations: 'The Only One Who Should Be You'

As the impeachment of President Donald Trump rages on — emphasis on the word “rage” — the two sides spent the first day basically calling each other liars. The thing about that is, only one side can be telling the actual truth. Amongst all of that “truth-telling,” House impeachment manager Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) made some very serious accusations — and not only against President Trump.

“Will you bring Ambassador [John] Bolton here?” Nadler began. “Will you permit us to present you with the entire record of the president’s misconduct? Or will you instead choose to be complicit in the president’s coverup? So far I’m sad to say, I see a lot of senators voting for a coverup.”

First, Nadler isn’t “sad” in the least. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blew that whole “sad and somber” narrative with her pen collection and fist bumps. Second, aren’t people in the U.S. innocent until proven guilty? I know Nadler’s speaking in lawyer-ese, but to blatantly say that senators are voting for a coverup shows the petulance of the left.

Nadler might as well have said, ‘If we don’t get our way, you must be cheaters.’

That’s not how this works, and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone took Nadler to task for his inflammatory statements.

Cipollone accused Nadler of making “false allegations” against the White House’s legal team, Republican senators and against Trump before looking directly at Nadler and saying that he should be “embarrassed.”

“The only one who should be embarrassed, Mr. Nadler, is you, for the way you addressed this body,” Cipollone said. “This is the United States Senate. You’re not in charge here.”

Following that, Cipollone continued his condemnation of Nadler’s comments. He even used Nadler’s own words against before telling the New York congressman that he owes an apology to Trump and his family, the Senate and to the American people.

“Mr. Nadler, you owe an apology to the President of the United States and his family,” Cipollone said. “You owe an apology to the Seate. But most of all, you owe an apology to the American people.”
