The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has invited presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump to its annual convention.

President and CEO of the NAACP Cornwell Brooks said in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Monday that Trump’s stances on certain issues are “concerning” and that he wishes for him to “speak clearly, in depth and detail" with respect to his immigration policy and civil rights agenda.

“This is a sobering moment in the country in that Mr. Trump is the presumptive nominee,” Brooks began. “He is running for an office that represents the whole United States. We the people includes all the people… And so, now is the time for him to speak clearly, in depth and detail, with respect to his immigration policy, with respect to the minimum wage, with respect to his civil rights agenda.”

He noted that the American people “have heard scarcely a word” from Trump regarding his views regarding "police brutality."

“The point being here is we need to hear him speak clearly,” said Brooks, “because here’s what we’ve noticed: What he’s been clear about is concerning. What is of concern to the country, quite often he has not been clear about.”

Mr. Brooks noted that the NAACP has also invited Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to appear at its convention.

The NAACP’s 107th annual convention will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio, July 16-20, the same week as the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
