As a show of support in the wake of the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history, officers from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office in Charles County, Maryland went to a local high school to offer students arriving on campus a warm welcome.

The sheriff’s office tweeted video of their deputies greeting students with smiles, hugs and high fives at Westlake High School, saying they all wanted “to show their support to students and let them know we care, especially after the tragic Florida shooting.”

The Charles County Sheriff's Office says they plan to visit more schools in the area to show kids they care, Fox News reports

The gesture comes as the nation reels in debate over gun control and how to make America's schools safer.
