Kim Mulkey just left Baylor University to become head women’s basketball coach at LSU, putting herself in the crosshairs of the Left. According to leftist weenies with blogs, she’s bringing her anti-LGBT baggage with her, igniting renewed attacks for not playing ball with the woke mob that celebrates anything that is not heteronormative. Or any lesbian named Brittney Griner.
When Mulkey coached Griner at Baylor University years ago, she was the “bigot” who told her star player keep her lesbianism to herself. More recently, Mulkey refused to join the pity party crying over Griner’s Russian imprisonment. For declining to support woke malarkey on Griner, Mulkey is enemy No. 1.
Now reviled as a Trumpy homophobe, Mulkey is fair game any time she makes the news. Forgotten is the fact she was the first woman in history to win Olympic and Pan-American gold medals in basketball, along with national college championships as a player, assistant coach and head coach. She’s a horrible person because she would not acknowledge Griner’s sexuality or comment on her Russian imprisonment.
“I would never want to play for someone like that,” ESPN’s Jalen Rose moaned. “That’s so rude and disrespectful.”
The Nation said Mulkey is not capable of offering human decency, declining to offer a simple nod of support for poor Griner, serving a nine-year prison sentence for drug smuggling. The leftist rag also warned female basketball prospects to consider Mulkey’s betrayal of the all-mighty LGBTQTIA when considering college scholarship offers. A former player’s tweet said Mulkey’s silence on Griner “speaks volumes.”
Outsports raged that Mulkey presided over a “dark undercurrent” at Baylor and now brings “considerable baggage and questions about how she’ll handle any potential out athletes on the LSU roster. Over the past two decades, Mulkey has exhibited a pattern of discomfort with the topic of gay and lesbian athletes.”
The LGBT’s useful media idiots keep pressing Mulkey to get woke, but she says her players’ sexuality is their own private business. That’s not exactly the ringing capitulation demanded by LGBT fascists. Griner previously said Mulkey’s hush-hush policy on sexuality “was a recruiting thing. The coaches thought that if it seemed like they condoned it, people wouldn’t let their kids come play at Baylor.
“It was more of an unwritten law [to not discuss your sexuality] ... It was just kind of, like, one of those things, you know, just don’t do it. They kind of tried to make it like, ‘Why put your business out on the street like that?’”
A lesbian teammate at Baylor, Emily Nkosi, said Mulkey was a member of a region known for its conservative and homophobic belief system. Mulkey bought into that belief system.
Outsports is hoping Mulkey’s worldview will benefit from leaving Baylor’s homophobic environment and get woke at LSU, with its myriad of LGBT alphabet clubs.
Other sports figures crumble like cake before the demands of the LGBT and its media minions, but Mulkey is solid as a rock and not ready to crack.
