An MSNBC contributor dismissed Mollie Tibbetts, a missing Iowa woman found dead in a cornfield Tuesday after authorities claim she was murdered by an illegal alien, as just some "girl in Iowa" during a segment Tuesday aimed at keeping the media's focus on Trump collusion theories.

"I don't think that today changes much, unfortunately," MSNBC guest contributor Christina Greer said Tuesday on “The Beat with Ari Melber,” referencing the conviction of former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and former Trump attorney Michael Cohen's plea deal. "I'm sure we'll hear what he has to say about this at his rally. But Fox News is talking about, you know, a girl in Iowa and not this."

"They have been so willing to move the goal post every single time with this president. No matter what he says, and no matter what he does," she added.

That "girl in Iowa" was 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts, who was last seen jogging one evening more than a month ago and was reported missing after she repeatedly failed to respond to her boyfriend's texts. Her disappearance made national headlines as her family searched desperately for her whereabouts, holding out hope that the University of Iowa student was still alive and going so far as to offer a $400,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.

Tragically, Tibbetts was found dead in a cornfield in Brooklyn, Iowa, early Tuesday morning. Cristhian Bahena Rivera, a 24-year-old undocumented alien who'd reportedly been living in the U.S. illegally for years, has been arrested in connection with her death and charged with first-degree murder.

But apparently, MSNBC finds her gruesome and totally avoidable death -- rather like Kate Steinle's -- irrelevant to the agenda at hand.
