WIRED writer and MSNBC contributor Virginia Heffernan compared President Trump to a stepfather who sexually assaults his stepchildren.

Because that’s not at all offensive to Americans who are actually fully grown adults and not children who need parenting from a president.

Or, you know, children who’ve actually been sexually abused by their stepparents.

Heffernan, who's made frequent appearances on NPR and writes op-eds for the LA Times, the New York Times and POLITICO (among others), added that the media is like the “mother” who stands by and watches the abuse without intervening.

Don’t ask me how Heffernan came to that conclusion, given that some 90 percent of the media's Trump coverage has been negative. I hear daddy issues can cloud your judgment.

While it might seem weird to those with half a working brainstem to think of a president as a parent watching over 320 million errant and bumbling children as opposed to an elected leader chosen by fully cognizant adults, Heffernan’s analogy isn’t anything new. Just a couple weeks ago, former First Lady Michelle Obama made the same comparison, likening her husband to the “good parent” and equating Trump supporters to little kids who just want to “eat candy all day and stay up late and not follow the rules.”

So enjoy considering yourselves to be toddlers in need of a nice hand-smack from Daddy Government, leftists.

I’ll just be over here, adulting.
