The Michigan legislature has been moving forward with a Constitutional carry bill, despite the well-funded efforts against them.

The gun control group Moms Demand Action, flush with Michael Bloomberg millions, has come out strongly against the Michigan measure.

In a press release, group leader Emily Durbin says the Michigan measure “would let some violent criminals and people with no safety training legally carry hidden, loaded handguns in public throughout Michigan, making it harder for law enforcement to protect our communities.”

Some might question if  “violent criminals” actually pay the $100 permit application fee, a fingerprint fee and another $115 every four years to renew the license as currently required. Measures that impede people from freely exercising their Second Amendment rights.

According to the Detroit News:

During the floor debate, Rep. Lee Chatfield, R-Levering, pointed to a copy of the constitution and said it was each law-abiding resident’s permit to carry a concealed weapon in Michigan.

“Criminals do not obey the law. Criminals don’t obey the gun laws we have now. And criminals won’t obey the new gun laws we pass. That is why they’re called criminals,” Chatfield said.

The measure has moved on to the state senate.
