Last week, National Public Radio (NPR) melted down and quit Twitter rather than accept the "government-funded media’ label, now the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) is “pausing” it’s use of the social media platform.

You might have thought a organization allegedly dedicated to "journalism" might like truth, but alas.

After receiving the “government-funded media” label this week, CBC sent a letter to Twitter reportedly clarifying that that less than 70 percent of its funds come from the federal government.

Musk later tweeted about it and changed it to “69 percent government-funded media.”

As a result, CBC has announced it will be pausing its Twitter accounts.

Reportedly, Twitter has replied to questions on the funding label with an auto-generated poop emoji.

If NPR and the CBC feel that strongly about the labels, they could simply stop taking taxpayer money – but it’s more likely they’ll return to Twitter before becoming truly “publicly funded” and operating solely on donations from an actual engaged audience.
