The leftist drama queens are at it again.
The Washington Examiner reported that Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) was recently awarded the 2021 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation for voting to convict former President Donald Trump during the impeachment trial in 2020. His actions distinguish him as the first senator “to vote to convict a president of his own party on impeachment charges,” according to the Examiner.
Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of John F. Kennedy, was thrilled with Romney’s supposed bravery.
“Senator Romney’s commitment to our Constitution makes him a worthy successor to the Senators who inspired my father to write Profiles in Courage,” she gushed. “He reminds us that our democracy depends on the courage, conscience and character of our elected officials.”
The website of the JFK Library Foundation praised Romney in similar terms.
“The 2021 Profile in Courage Award goes to Senator Mitt Romney for his vote to convict President Donald J. Trump in 2020, and his consistent and courageous defense of democracy,” the site stated. “As the first Senator to have ever voted to convict a President of his own party, Senator Romney’s courageous stand was historic.”
Overdramatic leftist elites may be emotionally comparing Romney’s vote to momentous events like the signing of the Declaration of Independence, but that’s only because they need to make his awarding look reasonable.
Seriously, all Romney did was vote “guilty” for a man who millions of people hated. That’s not a hard thing to do, especially with the Democrat party’s propaganda machine - aka the leftist media - spouting anti-Trump rhetoric 24/7.
The foundation’s opinion of Romney contrasts sharply with that of a growing portion of his constituents, some of who believe he’s a "traitor."
