While sounding off on gun control, Joe Biden made a half-cocked comment During Tuesday’s Democratic Presidential debate.

“One hundred and fifty million people have been killed since 2007 when Bernie voted to exempt the gun manufacturers from liability. More than all the wars, including Vietnam, from that point on. Carnage on our streets,” Biden said at the South Carolina debate.

That would be a pretty remarkable considering the U.S. Census has the current population listed at just over 329 million as of the time of the debate.

No one at the debate challenged or corrected Biden on his error.

According to the CDC and the Pew Research Center:

The 39,773 total gun deaths in 2017 were the most since at least 1968, the earliest year for which the CDC has online data. This was slightly more than the 39,595 gun deaths recorded in the prior peak year of 1993.
