Some people are sick, and then there’s this guy.

A 31-year-old Minnesota man named Shawn Michael Foltz is facing criminal charges after being arrested for abusing a two-month-old.

Yes, two months. Not 20 years. Not two years. Two months.

Ready to be as angry as I was after reading this story?

According to the Duluth News Tribune, "A Moorhead man is accused of abusing his 2-month-old daughter, including rubbing hot sauce and cayenne pepper in her eyes and blocking her airway until she turned blue."

But wait -- that’s not all!

As if that weren't bad enough, this human piece of excrement also would apparently snap the baby in the face with a towel, and would use a wooden spoon and/or pieces of vinyl flooring to smack her on the bottom.

Where is the mother in this situation, you ask?

Authorities didn’t learn of the abuse, which occurred from April 10 until May 30, until the unnamed mother took the baby to the hospital, where staff could visibly see the injuries. She claimed that Foltz told her that “the injuries were caused by the older child hitting the baby with a toy gun.”

I call B.S. A toy gun wouldn’t inflict all the damage that Foltz supposedly caused. Either the mother was ignorant to what was going on, or she just didn’t want to see Foltz taken away by authorities.

Police said they could plainly see that the baby had “dark bruises over both eyes, red marks on her back and a bruise on her shoulder.

Foltz is facing four felony counts, including neglect of a child, malicious punishment of a child and two counts of third-degree assault. Foltz is awaiting trial in the Clay County Jail, and his bail has been set at $100,000.

Sorry, but $100,000 is too lenient a punishment for a monster like Foltz. Should he be found guilty of all charges, Foltz should be locked up for a significant period of time. As far as the key to that lock, forget throwing it away. Melt it down and forget it ever existed.
