Michael Moore Tells Facebook Users to Report Trump’s Page for ‘Hate Speech’

Filmmaker Michael Moore is encouraging Facebook users to report Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s page for "hate speech."

In a Facebook post on Dec. 9, Moore wrote, "Facebook prohibits all its users from using hate speech on its site (‘You will not post content that is hate speech’).”

Therefore, he claimed he would be “joining others today in filing a complaint with Facebook that Trump's Facebook page is using hate speech to promote racism and bigotry.”

Moore then provided instructions for other Facebook users to report Trump’s Facebook page for violating the rule against “hate speech” targeting people for their “race or ethnicity” or “religious group.”

Moore stated he would like to see a “few million doing this by the end of the day.”

Moore’s post had been shared over 34,000 times as of Dec. 11.

Moore’s idea appears to come from a woman named Emily Pothast. In her post on Dec. 8, Pothast also told her friends to report Trump’s page for the same reason.

In the comments section on Pothast’s post, individuals claimed that after they reported Trump’s Facebook page, Facebook notified them that the page does not violate any rules.

As a result, Pothast decided to “troll” Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg by claiming Facebook’s refusal to remove Trump’s page means “inflammatory anti-Muslim rhetoric is not considered a violation of Facebook’s community standards.”

Pothast’s post has only been shared approximately 550 times as of Dec. 11.
