For abortion lovers, even Christmas Day – a celebration of the greatest unplanned pregnancy story in history, from mankind’s perspective – is an opportunity to push a life-ending procedure that leaves a baby dead and a woman victimized.
Or, at least, that’s what one media outlet thought when they put out a blast on Twitter asking people to share their stories of having had abortions.
In a particularly ill-timed tweet on the holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, FiveThirtyEight, a public opinion and political analysis website owned by ABC News, tweeted, “Do you have an abortion story? We want to hear from you,” along with an article decrying recent legislative attacks on the “right” to murder a child.
“If you’ve had an abortion and are willing to share your experience with us, please fill out the form below and we may follow up with you to hear more,” the attached article read, adding, “We’re particularly interested in hearing from people who have had abortions over the past 10 years, but we’d love to hear your story even if you had an abortion less recently. Whatever you want to share, we are grateful for your willingness to tell your story."
But the responses weren’t at all what they were expecting. Here are just a few of the avalanche of testimonies the tweet unleashed:
At the ultrasound for my 2nd pregnancy we were told our baby had Down Syndrome and her heart was incompatible with life. They encouraged us to end the pregnancy. She's completely healthy. pic.twitter.com/RgR8haX15s

Does years of psychological pain, depression, regret, guilt, and anger because you had to stand helplessly by as someone legally murdered your daughter, count as an abortion story?

I found myself unexpectedly pregnant at the age of 22 in my last semester of college with my daughter. Her father and I decided to marry, and she is still the most unexpected blessing in our lives. I cannot imagine a world without her joyful presence. https://t.co/fhtUpX3eiH

A young woman was walking into am abortion clininc, and one of the sidewalk counselors said to her “God will provide for that child.” Later, as she waited for the abortionist to arrive, she got up and left. They baby she didn’t abort is our wonderful 21-year-old daughter.

This is my youngest. An honor student and can beat any boy her age on a BMX racing track. I was told she was "incompatible with life" when I was 19 weeks pregnant. I chose to ignore the doctor's suggestion that I abort her. pic.twitter.com/QGxwuGyot0

We were told our son had a fatal genetic disorder & when my wife refused to abort the doctor sneered, "What're you, religious?!"

He's a healthy 7 month old now & currently asleep on my shoulder. No genetic issues, though he was born premature and spent some time in the NICU.
My mom was raped and faced family pressure to abort, but she chose to keep me and raised me alone. 5 months ago my wife and I just had our first child and none of this would have happened had she followed through with people’s “suggestions”.

Literally hundreds of people showed up to share their “abortion” stories of how choosing life turned out to be the greatest gift of all. From women who’d survived rape to young, unprepared moms and couples whose adopted children are alive today because of the selflessness of their birth mothers, story after story after story proved the joy and value of rejecting abortion and choosing life.
