Medal Of Honor Recipient Makes Dramatic Skydiving Entrance

Here's a way to show your patriotism for your country.

A group of military veterans and a Medal of Honor recipient made a grand entrance into DC's Marine Corps Marathon last week.

Kyle Carpenter, along with 11 other parachutists, descended upon DC with a massive American flag fluttering in the wind behind them.

President Obama awarded the Medal of Honor to Carpenter after he sustained injuries to his skull and lungs during a grenade attack in 2010.

Here's what the Marines website had to say about his act of bravery:

Realizing the danger that he and Lance Corporal Eufrazio were in, Lance Corporal Carpenter positioned himself between the grenade and his fellow Marine in an attempt to shield Lance Corporal Eufrazio from its blast.

Hospital workers pronounced him dead on arrival, but after 40 surgeries, Carpenter bounced back and decided to skydive into the Marine Corps Marathon this year after running it the year before.

Carpenter jumped with Team Fastrax, a company based out in Middletown, Ohio founded in 2001 and is known for performing skydives all over the world.
