Mayor Asks UC Berkeley to Cancel a Conservative Free Speech Event

It’s really funny how radical liberals are beginning to eat their own at an ever-growing rate, particularly in places like Berkeley, California, which have long fostered an ideology that espouses only one side of any argument — their own.

However, what’s not funny is that Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin is now urging the University of California-Berkeley to cancel yet another conservative event, because the Socialists that run that campus -- and town -- can’t control a segment of their own crowd that they had a hand in creating through their own divisive tactics.

Conservatives at UC Berkeley have scheduled an event in mid-September called “Free Speech Week,” to feature headliners such as Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro. So what's Arreguin’s knee-jerk response?

Well, cancel the event over fears of violence, of course.

Arreguin is allegedly afraid — notice the trickle — that if conservatives go through with the free speech event, Antifa fascists will show up and be their typical violent selves. (By the way, they are only violent in groups. They just cower and run away when they’re by themselves. I’ve seen it.)

According to the San Francisco Chronicle:

The mayor wants UC Berkeley to halt plans by a conservative campus group, the Berkeley Patriot, to host right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos during its scheduled Free Speech Week from Sept. 24-27. Berkeley’s right-vs.-left cage matches began with an appearance that Yiannopoulos was to have made in February at a campus hall, an event that was aborted when black-clad anarchists like those who broke up Sunday’s downtown rally stormed into Sproul Plaza, smashed windows and set bonfires.

But, is Arreguin truly afraid of unrest breaking out on campus, or does his alleged ties to Antifa motivate this plea?

According to an April article from Breitbart, Arreguin supported Antifa and other violent radicals through his own Facebook profile.

Breitbart reported:

Berkley Mayor Jesse Arreguin was revealed to be a member of the anti-fascist group, By Any Means Necessary (BAMN), on Facebook. BAMN orchestrated the violence that shut down a scheduled lecture at UC Berkeley featuring Milo Yiannopoulos in early 2017. Arreguin is allegedly also friends with BAMN leader, Yvette Felarca, on Facebook.

You might remember Felarca from her hate-filled interview with Fox News' Tucker Carlson back in February. She is the woman who organized the violent shut down of a speech, through fascist tactics, that was to be conducted by conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos at UC Berkeley.

Maybe there is some motivation by Arreguin to appease his alleged fellow members of Antifa.

Ironically, the Chronicle only mentioned the name “Antifa” once during the entire article, referencing it as if they’d never heard of it before. You know, because ignorance is bliss to radical liberals.

“I’m very concerned about Milo Yiannopoulos and Ann Coulter and some of these other right-wing speakers coming to the Berkeley campus, because it’s just a target for black bloc to come out and commit mayhem on the Berkeley campus and have that potentially spill out on the street,” Arreguin said, referring to militants who have also been called anti-fascists or antifa.

Antifa are just free speech bullies without actually being tough in any way, shape or form. Not only do they attempt to intimidate those with opposing views both verbally and physically, but, as we see in this case, they have intimidated Berkeley's mayor into shutting down free speech. They talk a good game, but when confronted they simply hide behind their masks while claiming they abhor fascism.

The flip side of Antifa is that they use fascism to combat fascism, but they’re too dumb and misinformed to recognize it.
