According to Governor Wes Moore of Maryland, conservatives’ efforts to protect children from pornographic LGBTQIA+ books in schools is nothing less than genital mutilation.

“I continue hearing people making the argument that we’re doing it because we want to prevent our students from having discomfort or guilt, because we don’t want our students to be able to really wrestle with these really difficult things in times when they’re maturing as individuals,” said Moore. “That’s actually not true. It’s a guise.”

“It’s not about making kids uncomfortable, you’re saying,” clarified MSNBC interviewer Jen Psaki.

“It’s about telling other kids that they shouldn’t understand their own power,” claimed Moore. “It’s castrating them.”

If Moore ever bothered to read and clearly understand the banned books in question, he would see that mutilation and confusion overflow from every single word. The picture book I Am Jazz, for instance, encourages children to walk the primrose path of transgenderism, taking their first steps to “gender-affirming care.”

Other banned books are straight-up porn, marketed to kids. Maia Kobabe’s Gender Queer includes detailed illustrations of masturbation and blowjobs. Fun Home: A Tragicomic offers the same graphic content, but from the lesbian point of view.

Some might claim that Moore simply wants to ignore the truth at all costs, and that’s certainly an understandable perspective. However, there is an element of truth to his words. Banning wicked propaganda from children does not physically castrate them, but it does “castrate” them from innocuously soaking in leftist ideology.

Indeed, Moore does know that children do not naturally wish to change their genders. He also knows that, if children were allowed to be children, his ideology would perish. If anything, his words in the MSNBC interview acknowledge that conservatives’ care for children is far more powerful than he would like. Let’s keep it that way.
