According to its top executive, Marvel Studios is set to unveil its first transgender character in its upcoming line of superhero movies, with studio president Kevin Feige saying he wants to create a world of superhero movies in which “every member of our global audience [sees] themselves reflected on the screen.”

When asked by a fan during a Q&A whether Marvel’s new rollout of films would include more LGBT characters, “specifically the T, trans characters," Kevin answered emphatically, "Yes, absolutely. Yes."

"And very soon. In a movie that we're shooting right now," he added, without giving any more details.

Marvel Studios is already slated to unveil its first gay character in the upcoming film “The Eternals,” which will reportedly feature a married gay man. A second LGBT storyline is potentially developing for “Thor”’s Valkyrie, a bisexual female warrior rumored to be finding herself a female love interest in a future film.

Marvel is pushing hard to include every subset and minority into its new lineup. “The Eternals” will also include the franchise’s first deaf character, with its first Asian-American character slated to appear in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”
