Marianne Williamson: ‘Witch Burnings (Were) The Beginning Of The Environmental Crisis’

In a 2012 YouTube video, Marianne Williamson discusses how the church started the environmental crisis by burning witches.

Not kidding.

At the 2012 Sister Giant event recorded at Middle Collegiate Church in NYC, the current Democratic Presidential candidate explained her views on witch burning:

The witch burnings were a systematic effort by the early church to eradicate the passions of a freethinking pagan woman, because she raised passionate, freethinking children, who grew into passionate, freethinking adults who were very difficult to manipulate and almost impossible to control.

Also the so-called witch burnings was the beginning of the environmental crisis as well, in the Western mind.

That is because, before the witch burnings - pagan culture, these women represented, they were those who held aloft the ceremonies, which kept the Western mind connected within itself to a sense of divine partnership between the human race and the trees and the sky and the earth and the rivers and the lakes. A sense of partnership with nature.

The early church at that time, one of the reasons they deemed it necessary to destroy pagan culture was because they were bringing a new dispensation wherein they argued that God had given mankind dominion over nature.

So once you switch from divine partnership and the whole responsibility of partnership with nature to  - God has given us rights of dominion over nature, we should be proper stewards, of course. But we have dominion over that. Once again, it's the idea, the sick idea that entered. And so the fact that later we have an environmental crisis is actually the effect, the cause of which was that initial change in the thinking.

Are you with me?

No, no, Marianne. I don’t think I am.
