A recent poll conducted by the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies (Berkeley IGS) shows that 71 percent of registered voters support "Proposition 1," a piece of legislation that would permit abortion up until the moment of birth. Only 18 percent oppose it.

The bill would take the government out of the picture when imposing rules and regulations regarding abortion. The bill also would remove individuals from being denied access to contraceptives for any reason.

The legislation reads:

The state shall not deny or interfere with an individual’s reproductive freedom in their most intimate decisions, which includes their fundamental right to choose to have an abortion and their fundamental right to choose or refuse contraceptives. This section is intended to further the constitutional right to privacy guaranteed by Section 1, and the constitutional right to not be denied equal protection guaranteed by Section 7. Nothing herein narrows or limits the right to privacy or equal protection.

Voting on "Proposition 1" won't take place until November, but Breitbart reports that the bill has support even in conservative parts of the state.
