At least two people are dead after a magnitude 7.1 earthquake hit central Mexico, just 80 miles southeast of Mexico City.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake struck the Puebla region of Mexico at a depth of about 32 miles and was felt as far as the nation's capital.

The extent of the damage is not immediately clear, but Univision and other media outlets are showing collapsed buildings, downed bridges, crushed cars, and people digging under rubble in Mexico City.

The Sept. 19 earthquake sent Mexico City into a panic, occurring on the 32nd anniversary of the devastating 1985 quake that killed more than 10,000 people and caused extensive damage to the city.

The quake comes less than two weeks after a magnitude 8.1 earthquake struck Mexico and left nearly 100 people dead.

The Sept. 8 earthquake was the strongest in a century, slightly stronger than the 8.0 magnitude earthquake in 1985.
