Seven million dollars might not seem like a lot when you consider that the illegal drug business generates hundreds of billions of dollars of revenue for organized crime all over the world. But, at least there’s $7 million worth of hard drugs off the streets.
A major drug bust occurred earlier this week at the U.S./Mexico border in Texas. Border officials said that an estimated $6,998,000 worth of methamphetamine, cocaine and what is believed to be heroin were discovered.
According to Fox News:
Border agents at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility were alerted to a commercial shipment of stone blocks on Monday. Officers with drug-sniffing dogs discovered packages of narcotics hidden within the shipment.
The bridge crosses the Rio Grande, connecting Texas with Mexico.
Officials said they seized 35 packages believed to be methamphetamine weighing 320 pounds, seven packages believed to be cocaine weighing almost 40 pounds and two packages believed to be heroin weighing around seven pounds.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) tweeted about the bust, along with a picture of the seizure:
This week, #CBP officers in TX referred a commercial shipment of stone blocks for further inspection at the Pharr International Bridge. With the help of a K9 team, officers located nearly $7 MILLION in narcotics, including 320lbs of meth. More info: https://t.co/vmlXWhXn4s pic.twitter.com/bhvQLrEsbD

In the grand scheme of things, this might be a minor speed bump to drug cartels. But, that’s 367 pounds worth of hard drugs now off U.S. streets and $7 million less in the drug cartels pockets.
