Silencing dissenting viewpoints on college campuses is apparently not just a liberal thing. Conservative activists recently shouted down a talk by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra at Whittier College.

FIRE reports the question-and-answer event, which was organized by California State Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon, was interrupted and brought to an abrupt end after “Make America Great Again”-clad activists yelled chants such as “Obey our laws!” and “Americans first!”

The activists were reportedly protesting Becerra because of his lawsuits against the Trump administration, including a lawsuit against border wall construction and a lawsuit over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program.

A video posted by “We The People Rising” shows people at the event in President Trump gear sitting near the front of the audience and yelling and interrupting throughout the entire event:

During the interruptions, Becerra said, “The First Amendment is a precious thing,” to which a member of the audience responded, “Only in America! That’s why we don’t want to make this Mexico!” and another added, “We want to keep it America!”

According to FIRE, the question-and-answer session, which was scheduled for a full hour, ended after a mere 34 minutes.

While it is not usual for conservative activists to shout down political opponents on college campuses, there is a new precedent—taken from the tactics of the left—of shutting down speech deemed offensive to the right. In June, a version of “Julius Caesar” performed in Central Park was interrupted by two conservative activists who took offense to the depiction of Trump as Caesar.
