Here’s a real cranium-tickler for you: a male weightlifter – who used to compete against men, mind you – is now being hailed as a champion after winning a women’s weightlifting competition. Because, equality…or something.
The man in question is 39-year-old Gavin Hubbard, a New Zealand competetive weight-lifter who now goes by “Laurel.” Here’s an excerpt from a local report:
Kiwi weightlifter Laurel Hubbard has dominated her first major competition, taking out the Australian International in Melbourne on a night she made history as the first transgender athlete to represent New Zealand.
Hubbard, 39, won the women's over 90kg division at the Melbourne event, setting four unofficial national records in the process. Hubbard lifted a combined total of 268kg - 19kg better than silver medallist Iuniarra Sipaia of Samoa.
I’ll repeat this for the back row: a man is being lauded for winning a women’s weight-lifting competition after beating the yoga pants off a bunch of ladies who are biologically disadvantaged against him. And we’re all supposed to be super-duper excited about this new step forward for #equality.
It’s not the first time this has happened in recent memory. Last year, a male athlete won the Alaska state girls’ 100-meter competition, which understandably upset the young ladies unfairly pitted against him. Also last year, male-to-female transgender runner Caster Semenya breezed past his female competitors at the Rio Olympics, setting new world records for the women's 400-meter, 800-meter and 1,500-meter events.
Then, in a slight flip, a 17-year-old transgender “boy” trounced the girls’ state wrestling competition in Texas – but only after pumping herself full of testosterone
Stories like these are what really creams my corn about modern-day liberalism. It makes zero logical sense to push for female empowerment while letting men trample all over female platforms, provided they throw on a little toenail polish first.
Today’s liberals shoot themselves in the collective foot by promoting this so-called “gender equality” – i.e., the 21st Century, hair-brained, anti-science notion that men can become women, and vice versa. The same anti-male, pussy hat-wearing, menstrual blood-slinging hoard of liberal nags who decry the “patriarchy” with every other breath are the same ones lining up to promote a man’s right to royally obliterate women in genedered sporting events.
Now frankly, as a woman, I find it incredibly insulting to be told that a man can become a woman. As if there’s nothing more to femininity than strapping on a pair of fake breasts and growing your hair out, easy peasy, lemon-squeezy. But apparently, that’s the irrationally stupid and offensive level we’ve sunk to.
Modern day “women.” So easy, a man could do it.
