Liberals will soon be able to hide away from big, bad, President Trump and his oppressive right-wing regime when they choose to stay at the Eaton Workshop Hotel, opening Spring 2018 in Washington, D.C.
Bloomberg reported that the world’s first politically motivated hotel will be a “haven for Democrats.” The hotel’s founder, Katherine Lo, told Bloomberg that while she wants to foster an atmosphere of diversity and inclusion, she doesn’t mean ideological. Instead, Lo wants to create “a diversity of fields and backgrounds as well as gender and ethnicity.”
Bloomberg also reported that the basic premise of the hotel is built around liberal activism and civic engagement, with Lo planning to “weave a liberal philosophy into every aspect of the guest experience.” She stated:
We plan to have new ideas in the minibar—an activist toolkit, for example, that includes sheets with information to help you call your congresspeople. And if we’d been open during this year’s Women’s March, I could have seen us putting poster boards and markers in the rooms!
If the blatant divisiveness of Lo’s business model weren’t enough to make you shake your head in awe, reading Bloomberg’s article on it just might do the trick.
Their article on the progressive hotel reeked of bias against the President’s administration, from their not-so-subtle title, “Coming Soon to Washington: An Anti-Trump Hotel for Liberals,” to their unnecessary comparison of the Eaton Workshop with the Trump Hotel.
Bloomberg stated, “In other words, her hotel should represent the antithesis of the Trump hotel that’s just a few blocks away, offering an intellectual playground to those who may feel marginalized by the current administration’s agenda.”
This subtle attempt to drive a wedge between those who Bloomberg author, Nikki Ekstein, believes to be “marginalized intellectuals” and those who go to the Trump hotel is just another sorry attempt to make victims out of liberals who can’t get over Trump’s election win.
Oh, well. I give the author a B- for being non-committal.
She should have taken a play out of the Eaton Workshop website, as it features an image stream, replete with propaganda, and the words “Human Progress” flashing over it in intervals on the home page.
Now that’s commitment.
