Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country is currently doing for you.

That seems to be the mantra of so many butthurt leftists who believe America's greatness lies solely in its commitment to having their back, solving their problems, and rectifying their mistakes with no consequences.

Take LeBron James, for example, who believes WNBA star Brittney Griner should think twice about whether she even wants to return to the United States, given how we haven't dropped the 82nd Airborne into Moscow to jailbreak her from the Russian prison where she's currently being held.

"How can she feel like America has her back? I would be feeling like, 'Do I even want to go back to America?'" James says in a trailer for a new episode of HBO's "The Shop," suggesting the United States isn't doing enough to get Griner home after she was jailed after Russian police found vape cartridges with cannabis oil in her suitcase at an airport - a big no-no in Russia. The basketball player has been held for more than 100 days while the Biden administration supposedly works on ways to bring her home - so far, to no avail.

Now, while I am an advocate of getting Griner back home as soon as possible (I'm not fond of our citizens being held hostage in Russian prisons - it's a flaw), it's not clear, at least from the episode clip, what exactly James thinks we should do to extract Griner from a hostile nation with whom we are currently at serious odds, and who seems to have no interest in negotiating for Griner's release. What is clear is that the Lakers star seems to believe one's desire to live in the greatest country in the world should be dependent on America's ability and willingness to pull your fat out of the fryer.

If James doesn't think we're doing enough to earn his or Griner's favor, he's welcome to find another country in need of a loudmouthed athlete who borders on abusing the First Amendment.

For starters, I hear he's a big hit over in China.
