Immediately following the mass shooting that left at least 17 people dead at a Florida high school Wednesday, liberal lawmakers immediately began calling for gun control well before any verified information had been revealed about the shooter, his weapons, or how he was able to obtain them.
Because once again, gaining the political high ground is much more important than actually solving a problem.
Here are just a few examples from the anti-gun lobby:
Another day, another shooting, indeed, multiple shootings today, while Congress sits in the grip of the NRA, incapable of making the slightest gesture toward reasonable gun safety.

Our schools should be a place where students and teachers feel safe. How many more senseless tragedies does this country have to endure until Congress acts? https://t.co/QU5AE6LVzR

Another terrible school shooting, this time in Florida. At least 18 other school shootings have already happened this year. My heart breaks for those children and their parents. How many more victims until we decide gun violence is a national problem? https://t.co/QbLjIbTQEO

I agree with every word @realDonaldTrump said here. I invite him to get off his ass and join me in trying to do something about it. https://t.co/XV0hRENr4B

Republicans should pray for forgiveness, for not only their complacency and dereliction of duty, but in contrition for the men, women and children we continue to lay to rest because of senseless gun violence and the cowardly inaction from Congress.

Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe called for putting politics aside…just before pushing a political agenda.
Horrific news from Parkland, Florida. Yet another mass shooting at a school. Dorothy and I are praying for victims and their families. Let's put the politics aside and pass commonsense gun reform. Children should not have to fear for their lives every time they go to school.

As per usual, the number of victims hadn’t even been tallied following Wednesday’s shooting before liberals once again began calling for gun control laws – well before enough information was known about the shooter to know what laws, if any, would have helped prevent such a heinous crime.
You’ll also notice that in none of these politically posturing tweets do lawmakers suggest how, exactly, to stop horrible crimes being committed by evil people, or what laws will successfully hamper criminals without infringing on the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans.
