According to National Security Council official John Kirby, women starting families threatens the stability of the U.S. military – and abortion is the cure.
“[W]hether it’s about female service members–one in five–or female family members being able to count on the kinds of healthcare and reproductive care specifically that they need to serve–that is a foundational, sacred obligation of military leaders across the river,” Kirby said, referring to abortion access for military members.

His three-minute-long rant also held that abortion enables women to “serve with dignity and respect”-- completely ignoring the fact that infanticide only brings remorse and pain. But does that really matter when the murder of children allows the American military to recruit and retain more “talent”?
To Kirby, the ends justify the means.

“[W]e’re, again, an all-volunteer force,” Kirby noted. “Recruiting is tough enough as it is with a very strong economy out there. We want to keep the people that we get, and we want to – we want to make sure that they can continue to serve.”
Kirby also soaked his speech in blatant fearmongering.
“[W]hat happens if you get assigned to a state like Alabama, which has a pretty restrictive abortion law in place, and you’re concerned about your reproductive care? What do you do? Do you say ‘no’ and get out? Well, some people may decide to do that. And what does that mean? That means we lose talent–important talent.”
“So, it has–it can have an extremely, extremely significant impact on our recruiting and retention,” Kirby concluded. “Not to mention, it’s just the right darn thing to do for people that raise their hand and agree to serve in the–in the military.”
Instead of demonstrating selflessness and humanity by supporting families, our government officials now treat women as cold, brutal numbers and assets. What’s worse, the White House declares for all to hear that our Department of Defense is motivated purely by expedience.
