The New York Rangers boast one of the toughest fan bases in all of the NHL, so it comes as no surprise that even the governor was not off limits from receiving some boos.

Democratic governor Kathy Hochul arrived in the Madison Square Garden for the ceremonial puck drop between the Rangers and the Anaheim Ducks. Instead of being met with applause, the Ranger faithful rained thunderous boos on her as she made her way to the ice.

Hochul was a staunch champion of mask mandates, even issuing statewide protocols to “protect” New Yorkers from getting the Omicron variant (which was not as dangerous as everyone made it seem). The mandates were eventually revoked, but these fans certainly did not forget how hard it made their lives while they were in place.
