As if the election news cycle couldn’t get sillier, the media are flipping out over Republican presidential candidate John Kasich having the nerve to eat pizza in New York using a fork and knife.

CNN caught the extraordinary event on video and posted it on Twitter for all to see:

The New York Post asked if eating pizza with a fork was legal:

To his credit, Kasich only ate a portion of the pizza with utensils. He picked up the slice half-way through.

He also said that the pizza was “scalding hot, OK?”

New York Magazine tweeted their disgust that Kasich would have the “gall” to defend himself:

During a press conference on Thursday, Kasich joked, saying, “We’re going to do well in New York. We’re going to work hard, despite the fact that I got caught eating a piece of my pizza with a fork. I think that we can overcome that.”

New York’s primary takes place April 19. Hopefully, pizza lovers can come to forgive the Ohio governor for his cardinal mistake.
