Some men “identify” as women. Some women “identify” as men.

And according to Kamala Harris, some small business owners “identify” as entrepreneurs, which means…well, nothing.

Speaking in Richmond, Virginia Thursday in honor of National Small Business Week, Harris, who’s become known for dropping poetic nuggets of wisdom like little goat turds along her path, had this to say about people who run mom-and-pop shops all across America.

"Some of our younger small business owners actually self-identify as entrepreneurs. They’re small business owners also,” Harris said, cackling.

Which is a pretty odd comment to make, on a couple of levels. First off, you don’t “self-identify” as an entrepreneur. Like being a male or a female, you either are…or you aren’t.

Secondly, entrepreneurs pretty much share an entire Venn diagram with small business owners.

Dictionary.com defines “entrepreneur” as “a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk.” Investopedia explains that “Entrepreneurship is the process of setting up a business, taking it from an idea to realization.” Small business owners are entrepreneurs, and there’s no “self-identification” about it.

And, as always, the internet had thoughts.

But perhaps the most hilarious part of this whole scene is that this time, Harris was literally standing in front of a pile of lettuce while serving up her latest word salad.
