The Judicial Watch has filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Maxine Waters (R-Calif.) for calling on citizens to attack members of the Trump administration.

The two-page complaint was mailed to the House Office of Congressional Ethics last week. The complaint alleges that Waters is in violation of House Rule 21, clause 1, which states, “A Member, Delegate, Resident Commissioner, officer, or employee of the House shall conduct himself at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House.”

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton in an interview with Fox News on Thursday said that he strongly encourages the committee to not just reprimand but expel Waters for violating House ethics rules by “inciting mob violence.”

He said that her recent remarks calling on citizens to confront and harass Trump cabinet members at restaurants, department stores, gas stations, and “wherever we have to show up” is an abuse of “power and position” and Waters shouldn’t be allowed to “use the House as a platform” for her agenda.

“Inciting mob violence against sitting Trump cabinet members – that doesn’t obviously reflect credibly on the House and the House has to decide whether they’re going to allow its members to use the House as a platform and its power and position to attack and incite violence against Trump cabinet members,” said Fitton.

He went on to say that cabinet members can’t get gas or go to a restaurant now without a security detail, citing White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as an example, who was assigned Secret Service protection after she and her family were kicked out of a restaurant.

“I can’t imagine a public official should be able to do that and get away with it,” said Fitton.

He went on to say that Waters, who has said she received threats after her controversial remarks made headlines, shouldn’t be the subject to threats of violence, “but she shouldn’t be advocating for groups of people to mob cabinet officials” either.

“It’s a dangerous situation this woman is setting us up for,” said Fitton.
