Juan Williams Says Cops Should Fire Warning Shots to 'Stall,' Then Wrestle Knives Away From Armed Attackers

Fox News contributor Juan Williams has a new way to solve all police-involved shootings of armed attackers: just fire a warning shot, then bum-rush the person holding the deadly weapon.

That’s literally what Williams suggested on Gutfeld Thursday night, saying the white police officer who shot and killed Ma’Khia Bryant should have shot his gun into the air and then charged the 16-year-old teen, who was holding a knife and actively trying to stab another girl at the time.

“I guess I would shoot the gun not necessarily at someone. Maybe shoot the gun and maybe run at the person and try to disarm them."

“So you would shoot the fun at the air, like a warning shot?” co-host Jesse Waters asked, incredulous.

“Well hopefully to distract or stall or something so I could get – or my partner could get the knife away,” Williams answered.

“I don’t know. I don’t know, Jesse, “ he continued. “Look, policing is tough work. All I’m saying, you know…I think that woman with a knife is a danger to society and certainly a danger to the other person and we want her to stop and be disarmed.”

“I just also think that killing a human is pretty radical. I don’t think that’s a good thing,” he said, without being able to offer what alternative the police officer had at the time in order to save the life of the woman who was about to be stabbed.

Police body cam footage from the incident shows the officer had mere seconds between exiting his squad car at the scene and shooting Bryant as she violently charged another young woman with a knife, pinning her against a car and raising her arm with the clear intent to stab the girl. The video then shows the officer firing four shots as Bryant crumbles to the ground.

Another video taken from across the street shows the officer exiting his vehicle just as Bryant comes out of the house holding a knife and screaming threats.

But according to Officer Juan here – w hose law enforcement experience sits, at best I can tell, at zero – the officer should have simply fired a warning shot to “distract” the violent attacker mid-stab, so he could risk his own life by charging her and wrestling the blade from her hand within inches of the girl who was pinned against the car.

Just a note, in case it’s ever relevant: if someone’s ever trying to stab me, I’d be much obliged if you’d shoot them to prevent that from happening. And please, for the love of all that is holy, don’t send Juan Williams.
