Joy Behar on “The View” Wednesday went after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for agreeing with her that President Trump’s threat of tariffs against Mexico was not a good idea.
Behar criticized McConnell, saying that he was only standing up to Trump because the tariffs would affect his bottom line, as Fox News reported.
Behar went on to issue a crude insult against the Senate Majority Leader, saying, "Mitch McConnell finally found his testicles because it's near his wallet.”
The audience roared in laughter.
McConnell reportedly said Tuesday that he hopes to avoid tariffs and that they do not have much support in the Republican party, according to Fox News.
Fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg joked about how Republicans could care less about personal attacks like Trump insulting Sen. Ted Cruz's wife for her looks back in 2016 but tariffs "got them crazy."
Co-host Meghan McCain went on to say that the tariffs have been met with much opposition among conservative Republicans because it “hits more ideology than personality,” as conservatives are against further taxation.
The threat of tariffs on Mexican imports comes amid the ongoing border crisis, as Trump hopes to pressure Mexico’s federal government into helping stop the deluge of illegal immigrants across the U.S.-Southern border.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is planning to send a delegation to the U.S. to discuss the issue, reported MRCTV.
President Trump seems doubtful progress will be made, as he slammed Mexico in a series of tweets on Sunday, calling the country an “abuser of the United States, taking but never giving,” and saying that “America has had enough” already.
