Are you an Atlanta Falcons fan? Well, I’ve got some bad news for you: you root for a team that uses Nazi imagery in its logo.

I’m kidding - please don’t go and burn all the team merchandise that you've bought. But fans on social media don’t see this as a joke.

On Wednesday, the Falcons released a tweet showing everyone that they were changing their profile pic to a 1960s retro logo. It’s not exactly the same, as the picture below does not have the traditional white trim around the black part.

But nonetheless, it looks pretty darn close to what a lot of old-time Atlanta players would have worn.

Do you see anything wrong with that? No? Good, you have some measure of common sense.

However, an uncanny number of people saw this photo and immediately thought that it resembled something straight from the Third Reich.

What exactly is the problem here? We can’t really be sure, because everyone simply said it looked like a Nazi logo without providing any evidence to support it.

I went to look at historic pictures of Hitler’s symbolism, and I can tell you this Falcons logo looks nothing of the sort. If it had white in the design, you could say it had the same color scheme of the swastika (which still wouldn’t make it problematic). But even that would be a stretch, and, wouldn’t you know it, there is no white in the new logo.

Let’s just file this away under “Instance of People Creating Something Out of Nothing,” and get on with our lives. It’s a Friday, we shouldn’t have to be worried about this stupidity.

The Falcons will be wearing this PERFECTLY FINE logo on Sunday when they face the New Orleans Saints.
