We all know that people who are pro-wearing masks or pro-Palestine often exhibit some pretty crazy behaviors. So when someone is both of those things, you get a double portion of insanity.
That’s what fans saw at the Australian Open yesterday.
Cameron Norrie and Alexander Zverev faced off in the fourth round of the year’s first men’s tennis major tournament on Monday (that's the round right before the quarterfinals). Zverev eventually won in a five-set thriller, but things briefly got out of hand halfway through the match.
During the third set, the players proceeded with business as usual. Out of nowhere, a masked women started chucking flyers on the court.
The message on those papers? “Free Palestine,” and “While you’re watching tennis bombs are dropping on Gaza.”
Great. A masked crazy woman tried to give those fans a lecture about who needs our support in the Israel-Palestine conflict. That’s what they all paid to see!

In this video, you’ll see two people trying to get that lunatic to stop. However, they were just random fans, not official event staff. In fact, the security personnel paid to end stuff like this took several minutes to show up, according to Zverev.
“I understand they’re all doing their job, but I think when something like this happens, it shouldn’t be another fan dragging the other person out,” he said. “It should be the security guys that should be there quite quickly. It shouldn’t take them three, four minutes.”
Well that’s a poor look for event staff. They eventually released a statement saying that they did their job, albeit quite slowly.
“Venue security was deployed to detain the individual (and) the individual was subsequently evicted from the event,” they said in a statement. “Anyone seeking to disrupt the event — as we saw tonight — will be removed.”
Regardless of how quickly it happened, the woman eventually left. Next, she should go get her head examined, and do a little more research on mask ineffectiveness and the Israel-Hamas war!
