The presidential election is coming up, and the Philadelphia Eagles have officially decided they will endorse current vice president Kamala Harris.

Or have they?

If you looked at a handful of streets in the City of Brotherly Love, no one would blame you for thinking that. On certain bus stops on 16th and Spring Garden streets, 18th Street and JFK Boulevard, and 34th and Walnut streets, you would see posters that look like this:

Taken at face value, this looks pretty straightforward: the Eagles seem to have voiced their support for Harris. But it’s evidently not that cut-and-dry.

The City of Philadelphia released a statement saying that this is an act of vandalism, and that they hope to remove all of the signs by the end of the day. Furthermore, they claimed that no major advertising affiliate with the City, the Harris campaign, or the Eagles franchise was involved in putting these posters up.

“This was not a digital breach; whomever is responsible for the illegally placed posters, broke into the securely covered shelter ad space and somehow put the posters in the space,” the statement read. “Intersection has advised the City's Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems (OTIS) that they plan to conduct a full inventory tomorrow of all bus shelters, and remove any (illegal) posters. The City has a process to review all bus shelter ads but this, again, was not a digital ad."

In addition to the city’s statement, the Eagles released a tweet denying any involvement with these ads.

It appears that the real culprit is still out there, but they had nothing to do with the football team.

Philadelphia begins its season on Friday night in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a game against the Green Bay Packers at 8:15 p.m.
