Megan Rapinoe’s final professional soccer match ended in a rather inglorious way.

Just six minutes into the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) final, Rapinoe (who played for the OL Reign) suffered a non-contact injury that knocked her out of the game.

While Rapinoe has been the human embodiment of narcissism and loathsomeness, no one wanted to see her injure herself in her final game. It was an unfortunate way for her career to end, and hopefully, she recovers quickly (Rapinoe believes she ruptured her Achilles).

The day after the injury happened, Rapinoe discussed her injury at a press conference. True to her well-known self-centered form, Rapinoe took one more opportunity as a professional athlete to show the world how insufferable she is.

This time, she criticized God for her injury in her final game. That is, if one exists, which she doesn't seem to believe.

“I’m not a religious person or anything and if there was a God, like, this is proof that there isn’t,” Rapinoe said. “This is f—ed up. It’s just f—ed up. Six minutes in, and I eat my Achilles.”

I get that suffering an injury in your final game sucks. But to confidently declare that this is proof God doesn’t exist? That’s what’s really messed up.

I don’t want to get into a super complex theological or intellectual debate here, so I’ll keep my points simple. Bad things have happened to every human since the beginning of time, and frankly, we brought it upon ourselves. God still shows he loves us (through His Son, Jesus), even if she denies it. God's love is for her too, if she'll accept it.

But He exists whether she likes it or not, only the most hard-hearted people deny that fact. Rapinoe’s (unfortunate) injury is not the final answer on whether or not there is a God.

Thank goodness we don't have to see her play soccer anymore.
