CNN didn’t really care a whole lot about North Carolina when Hurricane Helene struck last year, nor did they highlight their troubles when the Biden Administration sent essentially zero help to thousands of families in need. But now they care about The Tar Heel State because they think it can help them create climate change hysteria and attack President Donald Trump.
The most useless legacy news outlet in existence went to a couple of shops near the beautiful mountain wilderness in North Carolina. They talked to a couple of outdoor gear shop owners who have had their businesses impacted by Helene.
However, in their opening monologue of the segment, they blamed climate change for the destruction of these businesses.
CNN finally rediscovers North Carolina after the hurricane and flooding, but only to claim Trump is going to kick them while their down with cuts to the Parks Service, climate change, and the trade war.

“‘The Second Gear’ was a Mecca for hikers and kayakers until Helene made it a metaphor for the increasing challenges of running an outdoor business on an overheating planet,” the reporter said.

Hurricanes have occurred for as long as humans can remember, so they’re not an automatic indicator of global warming. Making that correlation shows how logically bankrupt CNN and its employees are.
Next, they talked to Scott Cundy, the co-founder of Wildland Trekking. He continued to peddle the “Climate change is ruining my business” narrative and even blamed some of his hardships on Trump.
Cundy reporter suggested that the cuts from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) would threaten national parks and that the ongoing trade war with Canada is driving citizens of that nation away.
“We have Canadian customers who are just flat-out cancelling, they don’t feel safe coming to the U.S.,” Cundy said.
To start, Trump has never said he’s against national parks, and they have not suffered with Elon Musk running DOGE to this point. Additionally, North Carolina is not high on the list of vacation spots for Canadians. They got to border states like Michigan, Washington, and New Hampshire, or hotter places, like Florida and California. North Carolina is nice and all, but it doesn’t attract enough Canucks to make this a talking point.
If only CNN cared this much about these towns in the immediate aftermath of Helene. I guess we shouldn’t expect anything less though, since they care more about bashing Trump than the American people.

It turned into them protesting free speech while also calling for it. They definitely don't see the hypocrisy. pic.twitter.com/c4eRqVlvTB
