The Baltimore Orioles (MLB) and Baltimore Ravens (NFL) have both offered their support to the city after a cargo ship crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

During the early hours of Tuesday morning, a cargo ship reportedly lost power and crashed into a support beam in Baltimore’s most prominent bridge, causing the structure to crumble upon impact. Officials said there were multiple cars and construction workers still on the bridge when it collapsed, and search and rescue missions are underway for at least seven people who are now missing. Two others were recovered alive.

After learning of the news the Baltimore Orioles sent out a statement, offering their condolences to anyone who was affected by this shocking incident.

“We are devastated by the news of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, and send out thoughts and prayers to those impacted by this tragedy. We thank the brave first responders and the men and women actively working on rescue efforts,” the team posted on X. “Baltimore, we’re a tight-knit and resilient city. Together we will get through this.”

Additionally, the team announced that it canceled a fan rally at Camden Yards that was supposed to take place at 6 p.m.

The Ravens also offered a similar statement, saying the Baltimore community would stand together during this time.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson also said he was standing with those affected in spirit.

“For the people and their families that (were) a part of the collapsing Bridge in Baltimore my heart, thoughts and prayers are with you all,” the quarterback wrote on X.

While the Ravens aren’t in season, Opening Day for the Orioles is on Thursday at home against the Los Angeles Angels. It's likely they'll offer another gesture of support before the game.
