Canadian sports fans have been wildly disrespectful to America over the weekend, so Nashville Predators fans decided to return the favor.
On Saturday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that would impose heavy tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China. This wasn’t done randomly, Trump did it with the purpose of getting those three nations to make good on their promises to help stop the flow of illegal aliens and dangerous drugs into our country.

Canadians in particular weren’t very pleased with this move from Trump, so they chose to voice their displeasure with him by booing “The Star Spangled Banner” whenever it was played before sporting events in their nation. (When American teams play against Canadian teams, the host team makes sure both nations’ anthems are sung). The first instance came before the Ottawa Senators-Minnesota Wild game on Saturday.

The trend continued from the NHL to the NBA. When a 15-year-old girl finished singing the anthem before a Toronto Raptors-Los Angeles Clippers game, fans rained down boos.

I thought Canadians were better than that. Instead of cheering on a 15-year-old for singing in front of thousands of people, they just got petty.
Finally, fans at the Vancouver Canucks-Detroit Red wings game on Sunday joined in on the boos.

After seeing our national anthem get booed all weekend, Predators fans returned the favor to Ottawa (and all of Canada) by booing “O Canada” before they hosted Senators on Monday.
Here’s both anthems at tonight’s Predators vs Senators game.

-some clear audible boos during “O Canada”
-cheering, then silence (with one very loud “Go Trump”) during Star-Spangled Banner pic.twitter.com/ULXHvQoGBk
Is this petty? Yes. Is it also a sign that America is not going to suffer being taunted by nations who have no real cause to dislike us? Also yes.
I hope this is the end of the boos from both sides (Trump also ordered a 30-day pause on the tariffs, so Canadians really have no reason to be upset now). But the message is clear: America is done being weak. We will not tolerate being mocked.
