Former Vice President Joe Biden must be some sort of genie, or some other kind of enlightened mythical visionary, as he  expressed his regrets to Oprah Winfrey on Thursday about not being the president… after not running for president.

In his own words:

I regret that I am not president because I think there is so much opportunity. I think America is so incredibly well positioned.

I’ll give him this: His ability to maintain such vast delusions of grandeur in the midsts of that whole “reality” thing is quite impressive. I mean, just check out the picture below. Who sets up a wicker chair and tea interview in the middle of the woods?

Biden, having never been the president himself, included two qualifications for the presidency that he believed people needed to ask themselves before running for the office.

“One, do they truly believe they are the most qualified person for that moment? I believed I was. But was I prepared to be able to give my whole heart, my whole soul and all my attention to the endeavor? I knew I wasn't,” he stated.

Politico attributed Biden’s seeming lack of “heart, soul, and attention” for a presidential bid to the death of his son, Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015.

His son’s death has been a significant point of discussion and reflection for Biden -- so much so that the former vice president wrote a book on the matter entitled “Promise Me, Dad.” He is poised for a book tour starting next week.
