Joe Biden on CNN Bashes Democratic Radicalism on CNN

Joe Biden took the radically unpopular position amongst his far-left peers that most Democratic voters do not inhabit the left’s fringest.

In a CNN interview aired Friday, Biden, pointing to 2018 elections in which moderate Democrats won out, said, “That's what this election is about. I'm happy to debate that issue and all those issues with my friends because guess what, look who won the races. Look who won last time out.”

But Biden didn’t stop there. Bringing up radical freshman Congresswoman, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Biden said,

By the way, I think Ocasio-Cortez is a brilliant, bright woman, but she won a primary. In the general election fights, who won? Mainstream Democrats who are very progressive on social issues and very strong on education and healthcare.

Biden, the proclaimed moderate of the 2020 Democratic primaries, has faced pressure from his colleagues to take more and more radical positions.

Biden, despite his comments in the interview, has conceded to fringe-left demands before. Most notoriously, the former VP flip-flopped on his position regarding the Hyde Amendment, eventually saying he’d support repealing the law which states that federally funded healthcare cannot fund abortion procedures unless extremne criteria are met.
