Jennifer Lawrence Says She's Taking a Year Off From Acting To 'Fix Our Democracy'

Liberal activist and belligerent Trump critic Jennifer Lawrence said she’s taking a year off acting to “fix our democracy.”

You know, because celebrities lecturing us unwashed masses about politics has worked so very well in the past.

“I’m going to take the next year off,” the 27-year-old actress said. “I’m going to be working with this organization I’m a part of: Represent.Us. It’s just trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level.”

“It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan [politics],” she added. “It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state-by-state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy. And then I don’t know what I’m doing next.”

The Washington Times reported Lawrence made a surprise stop-over at an Ohio high school late last month to teach a class about political corruption. (And if you’re wondering how she’s qualified to lecture anyone on the American electoral process, the line for those answers starts behind me. I didn’t realize starring in the Hunger Games suddenly made her a civics expert.)

As for her group “Represent.Us.,” it claims to be a bipartisan organization seeking to end "secret money" and corruption in America’s election system.

Funnily enough, the group's entire “creative council,” of which Lawrence is apparently a part, is comprised almost entirely of Hollywood actors, producers and musicians of the left-wing persuasion, including “Supernatural” actor and outspoken anti-Trumper Misha Collins, “Scandal” star Kerry Washington and ultra-liberal Hillary Clinton supporter Elizabeth Banks.
