A Turkish Islamic preacher says men should grow beards so as not to cause “indecent thoughts” in other men who might mistake them for women. And it's all because women are too busy dressing like men and causing the confusion in the first place.
Or something.
“Men should grow beards. One of the two body parts that separate men from women is the beard,” speaker Murat Bayaral said on the TV show Fatih Medreseleri, according to Hurriyet Daily News.
“For example, if you see a man with long hair from afar you may think he is a woman if he does not have a beard. Because nowadays women and men dress similarly," he theorized. “God forbid! You could be possessed by indecent thoughts.”
Just a small thought, for your general consideration: if the only thing keeping you from having “indecent thoughts” about a guy is his beard, there’s a decent chance you might be gay. Or a little blind.
Then again, this is the same religion that jailed a woman for wearing a skirt and forced an Iraqi woman to flee her home after taking a selfie with a Jewish woman, so we aren’t really looking for logic, here.
