Iran Shows Off New Fighter Jet, Continues Missile Development Despite Sanctions

1.3k views

Did anyone really expect Iran to care about anything the U.S. has had to say or the sanctions the U.S. levied against them? After all, this is a country whose leaders constantly call for “death to America” while burning the U.S. flag in their parliament meetings. Crazy knows no bounds.

Amid the coverage of Iran’s new fighter jet that the nation unveiled on Tuesday, it was lost that Iran is continuing to develop “missile capabilities,” despite sanctions recently levied on them by the U.S.

According to Haaretz:

Iran will unveil a new fighter jet next week and continue developing missile capabilities as a top priority, the defense minister said on Saturday, defying new U.S. sanctions aimed at curbing Tehran’s missile program and regional influence.

Iran’s navy also announced on Saturday that it has mounted a locally built advanced defensive weapons system on one of its warships for the first time, as tensions mount with the U.S. military in the Gulf.

As said earlier, Iran unveiled the new dual-seat fighter jet that is said to be able fly at an altitude of 45,000 feet, much higher than the average flight height of commercial planes (35,000 feet).

CBS News reported that “Iran already has U.S.-made F-4, F-5 as well as F-14 fighter jets and also Russian-made Sukhoi aircraft in service.”

The news of Iran’s military development comes a little more than two weeks after the Trump administration renewed sanctions on Iran, which includes “sanctions on Iran’s automotive sector and on its trade in gold and precious metals.” The sanctions also target countries in business with the Iranian government, saying that “individuals or entities that fail to wind down activities with Iran risk severe consequences.”

One thing is clear. Iran has no interest in anything but continuing their radical ways.
