WATCH: Iowa Farmer Schools Sen. Warren On 'Green New Deal'

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) campaigned in Iowa Thursday and met with a farmer who taught her a lesson on the negative consequences of the “Green New Deal."

The Iowan farmer expressed concern for how this progressive climate plan would affect cattle and the farming industry in general.

“The Green New Deal says we need to get rid of cows,” the farmer told Warren. “I don’t agree with that.”

“Ehhh,” Warren responded as he spoke.

The farmer also warned Warren that — contrary to popular opinion — carbon dioxide production would not reduce if farmers were forced to change the feed they gave their animals, but rather, it would increase.

“My point is we have become so ignorant of the basic principles of biology in food production that we have said we answer them all through technology instead of letting mother earth and having respect," he said.

The often-mocked Green New Deal was introduced by Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and would cost around $93 trillion dollars. Along with getting rid of air travel and originally planning to give money to people “unwilling to work,” the deal also proposed getting rid of “cow farts.”
