The IRS found 6,400 emails from Lois Lerner, the deposed director of the Exempt Organizations Unit, but the Department of Justice attorneys will not release them to the public, Fox Business reports.

The DOJ, who is representing the IRS during the investigation into the actions of Lerner and others, is "making sure that none of [the emails] are duplicates" before sharing them.

The Treasury Department Inspector General for Tax Administration, TIGTA for short, was able to find 6,4000 emails. The duplicates, some say, have already been taken out of the equation.

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said in an interview with The Daily Caller:

"Even though TIGTA already identified and removed emails that were duplicates, the IRS is in ‘the process of conducting further manual deduplication of the 6,400’ emails, rather than reviewing them in response to Judicial Watch’s FOIA requests that are more than two years old now."

The IRS has claimed that all of Lois Lerner's emails had been lost during a computer crash. Lerner's emails would have been vital in the investigation of whether conservative leaning organizations were denied or wait listed tax-exempt status.

During a congressional hearing into the IRS investigation last March, Lerner pleaded her Fifth Amendment rights to not answer questions regarding her role in the IRS scandal.
